On Friday 15th November, students from Humphrey Perkins School in Barrow upon Soar proudly graced TV screens across the nation, featuring on the BBC’s Children in Need.
Students and staff at the school rallied tirelessly across the week to raise funds for the good causes the charity supports, also sponsoring one lucky teacher, Mr Swain, to have his beard shaved! A staggering £1009 was raised in a bid to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Their efforts caught the attention of BBC’s Children in Need, who invited them to take part in the broadcast live from Mountsorrel.
Head Girl Elise was joined by classmate and Head Boy Jake to represent Humphrey Perkins at the BBC; “It’s amazing to see all of our hard work pay off. It’s also really cool to be on TV, representing the best of Humphrey Perkins to the wider community."
Associate Principal of Humphrey Perkins, Della Bartram, also commented on the evening; “It’s been absolutely fantastic and I am so proud of Team Humphrey Perkins”.
Humphrey Perkins is an 11-16 provider in Barrow upon Soar and part of the Lionheart Academies Trust, a family of 11 schools based in and around Leicestershire.
