In the lead up to Christmas, schools from the Lionheart Academies Trust partook in a Shoebox Appeal in partnership with The Y Charity, bundling together a boxed assortment of sweets, stationery and toiletries that will be gifted to disadvantaged young people across Leicestershire.
Students from Beauchamp College, Judgemeadow Community College and The Cedars Academy in Leicestershire tuned into the season of goodwill, rallying 300 shoeboxes in total.
Judgemeadow student Shia was among the gift-givers; “My box contains a woolly hat, some toothbrushes and a diary. It feels nice to know that another child somewhere will be really excited to open this, and everyone deserves presents at Christmas”.
Jerry Frape from The Y Charity, who has been delivering shoe-boxed gifts to those in need for 10 years, stated “We’re always blown away by the support from local schools. It’s extremely rewarding to see the incredible reactions of the young children who open the boxes”.
The Lionheart Trust has partaken in the Shoebox Appeal with The Y Charity for 7 consecutive years, and is committed to ensuring that it’s schools remain engaged with their local communities.
