Students dazzle at LET's Dance 2025

In a spectacular celebration of International Dance Day 2025, our young people once again brought the house down at the annual LET’s Dance competition, which gives students aged 11+ an opportunity to perform and compete against their Lionheart school peers.

Held at The Cedars Academy’s theatre in Birstall, the evening saw 53 young dancers go head-to-head in a fierce but friendly display of passion, movement and rhythm.

From contemporary to classical, tap to jazz and acrobatic to cultural styles, each performer took to the stage – either individually or as part of a group – and dazzled the 120-strong crowd, many of whom were left awestruck. Adding an extra layer of sparkle, most routines were entirely self-choreographed, showcasing the talent and creativity of our learners.

Tasked with selecting winners from such a high-calibre field, the judging panel of three (including a representative from Leicester’s Curve Theatre!) evaluated performances on:

  • Choreography

  • Musicality

  • Timing

  • Performance

  • The 4Rs: resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity and reflection.

Additionally, Jack from The Cedars Academy, earned special praise for his energetic performance, with the judges highlighting how he “owned the stage!”

While the winners’ trophies were impressive, it was the spirit of support and celebration that really stole the show. The camaraderie amongst performers was heartwarming and highlighted how essential the arts are to the growth of our young people – giving them a platform to thrive beyond the classroom and gain confidence.

We can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
