Celebrating the festive season across our schools
This festive season, the corridors of our schools have been bustling with festive cheer! From twinkling decorations, to heartwarming activities, our pupils and staff have truly embraced the Yuletide spirit.
Let’s take a closer look at the highlights from each school:
Beauchamp City Sixth Form, Leicester
Embracing a festive challenge, Further Maths students took on the annual GCHQ Christmas Maths Challenge, which tasked them with completing seven puzzles.
Meanwhile, the spirit of giving was alive and well as staff and students donned their finest jumpers for Christmas Jumper Day, all while collecting donations for a local winter foodbank.
Beauchamp College, Oadby
Going above and beyond to support their community, Beauchamp College students and staff packed over 50 shoeboxes for the YMCA Shoebox Appeal and collected an incredible 201kg of essential items for the South Leicester Foodbank.
Within the school, the festive spirit was just as vibrant. A magnificent Christmas Tree of Gratitude took pride of place in the main foyer, adorned with heartfelt kindness messages from students. Adding a green touch to the season, the Eco Club created a virtual eco advent calendar, inspiring everyone to take part in festive, environmentally friendly activities.
Brock Hill Primary School, Oadby
With antlers perched and red noses glowing, pupils at Brocks Hill enthusiastically took part in the Reindeer Run, raising funds for LOROS Hospice. The excitable young herd dashed across the playground with boundless energy – though, lacking a sprinkle of magic dust, weren’t quite able to take to skies, at least not this time!
Adding to the festive cheer, the school community came together to enjoy a hearty Christmas dinner, sharing laughter and good company. Meanwhile, the Eco Club sprinkled their own kind of magic by crafting eco-friendly decorations to make the school’s Christmas tree shine sustainably.
Broom Leys Primary School, Coalville
Demonstrating the true spirit of Christmas, pupils at Broom Leys reached out to their local community with a heartwarming toy appeal. Children brought in a wonderful array of donations and soon the collection was piled high with exciting contributions.

The Castle Rock School, Coalville
The annual Christmas Fair was a resounding success, bustling with excitement as stalls overflowed with festive treats, crafts and games. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Christmas Lunch provided a chance for everyone to come together, share a delicious meal amid a festive atmosphere.

The Cedars Academy, Birstall
Decked out in Santa hats, students and staff at The Cedars Academy set out on a festive mission of generosity, contributing significant donations to the Soar Valley Food Bank, providing much-needed support to members of the local community.
Hallam Fields Primary School, Birstall
As Buddy famously says in the classic Christmas film Elf, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” And that’s exactly what the pupils at Hallam Fields Primary School did this festive season, delighting residents at a local care home with a mini carol concert.
They filled the air with heartwarming renditions of Christmas classics like Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and later handed out homemade cards, which staff lovingly used to decorate the care home – spreading cheer in every corner!
Highcliffe Primary School, Birstall
Pupils got hands on this holiday season, designing their own unique baubles to decorate one of the school’s Christmas trees. Each bauble added a personal touch, with the finished tree truly embodying the Highcliffe school spirit.
In the spirit of giving, the school also organised a collection of food donations, gathering valuable essentials like soup, beans and pasta, providing support to local families and showcasing the school’s commitment to spreading kindness this Christmas.
Humphrey Perkins School, Barrow upon Soar
The Main Hall at Humphrey Perkins School came alive with the sound of classic Christmas tunes, as students – decked out in tinsel, Santa hats and festive jumpers – got their groove on during an energetic Christmas dance-a-thon!
With Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath the Tree and Elton John’s timeless Step into Christmas providing the perfect backdrop, students rocked around the stage, performing a number of spellbinding routines that got everybody in an upbeat festive mood!
Judgemeadow Community College, Evington
Judgemeadow Community College embraced the season of giving by supporting the Wesley Hall Community Centre food bank. Students and staff came together to collect and donate essential items, helping to provide crucial support to local families in the community. A handful of students then gave up their time to volunteer at the foodbank, seeing first-hand how their donations will make a difference to those in need this winter.
Martin High School, Anstey
Martin High School warmly welcomed hundreds of visitors to their second annual Christmas Fair in November. Parents, carers, students, community members and pupils from local primary schools enjoyed engaging with a variety of festive activities, including a kids’ crafts stall, a tombola, teddy tombola, henna art and live music; there was even a visit from Santa himself.
The event was hugely popular, with the school able to raise a staggering £1,266.50, smashing through last year’s benchmark. This money will be used to support the Student Council.
Mercia Academy, Swadlincote
Generous elves at Mercia Academy assembled 25 parcel boxes, each one brimming with essentials for the local food bank. This drive was a testament to the generosity of students, their families, and staff, and their commitment to helping those in need.
The Newbridge School, Coalville
Festive tunes filled the air at The Newbridge School during their 12-hour Christmas karaoke, raising funds for LOROS Hospice. Among the standout performances were the English department who wowed everyone with a stunning rendition of Elton John’s classic Step into Christmas.
Newhall Junior School, Swadlincote
The festive spirit in the air was tangible during the Christmas craft morning at Newhall Junior School, with parents and carers joining pupils for a day of creativity and holiday cheer.
