Duke of Edinburgh draws to a close with exciting expeditions
It has been another incredibly fulfilling term for our Duke of Edinburgh students, many of whom recently completed their Expedition Programme. Those working towards their Bronze Award enjoyed an expedition in Leicestershire and Rutland, whilst those aiming for Silver and Gold travelled to the Peak District.
Both groups showed tremendous resilience to combat the challenging weather conditions too; the energy-sapping heat proved demanding for the Bronze group, whilst the Silver and Gold students enjoyed a more overcast sky.
The 250 students battled through, though, showing tenacity and determination to finish their expedition. Merit should also be given to the plethora of staff who sacrificed their well-deserved weekends to lend support.
The expeditions drew the curtain on another hugely encouraging and significant year for our DofE students.
Since last year, our students have clocked up 5564 hours of volunteering, resulting in a social value of nearly £27,000!
An awards ceremony, held at Judgemeadow Community College in Evington, is being planned for early next year; thus, coinciding with the completion of these awards.
A massive congratulations to all involved!
