Festivities in full swing across Lionheart Schools
From pantomimes and fundraising to festive lunches and a facetime with Santa Claus, our students and staff have been getting into the festive spirit this week.Schools across the Lionheart Educational Trust in Leicestershire have been getting into the festive spirit this week.
Students at The Castle Rock School have performed ‘Robin Hood’ over 4 nights to parents and families, along with matinee performances to pupils at Broom Leys Primary School. Down the road at The Newbridge School, students took to the stage to perform ‘Cinderella’. Having put in many extra hours of rehearsals, students worked incredibly hard on their acting, singing and dancing, and were rewarded with fantastic feedback from every audience - they absolutely loved the shows!
On top of their annual food bank appeal, Beauchamp College House Heads have been busy organising a ‘Christmas calendar of events’; from a shoe box appeal and football competition to a modern foreign languages Christmas card competition and Christmas film night.
Our youngest pupils have also been getting creative, with children and staff at Riverside Primary spending a fun-filled morning creating amazing Christmas decorations! At Hallam Fields Primary, their EYFS children went on a wintery walk this week to the local post box to post their letters to Father Christmas. They even had a video call with Father Christmas himself!
At the Cedars Academy, Mr R-elfe and his helpers served up a double dose of Christmas Dinners and Jumpers during Thursday's festivities. A cracker-ing time had by all!
On Thursday 8th December, Humphrey Perkins School celebrated with an evening of Christmas shopping followed by a Christmas themed performing arts showcase by their talented students.
Also on Thursday, students at Judgemeadow Community College held their Winter Show; a festive music concert with lots of singing and dancing to all the classic Christmas songs. They've also been working to make a difference this Christmas time by supporting a foodbank drive, encouraging students and staff to supply items to help members of the community that are in need.
Martin High held a Christmas card competition this term with students submitting their best drawing, painting or photograph to be used as the school’s Christmas card this year. We are delighted to announce the winners, Daniel in 7I and Isla in 7R, who each received a prize of a delicious chocolate hamper. Their winning designs are pictured above.
With so much more going on across all Lionheart schools to ensure they spread festive cheer and goodwill to their Leicester and Leicestershire communities, we are proud of the efforts of all staff and students in the run up to Christmas. We’re also grateful for the support of parents and carers, whether that’s by making costumes, helping children learn lines, donating to causes, reminding children when it’s Christmas jumper day, attending events, or getting covered in glitter at decorations days!
