A cross-county languages competition among Lionheart's Year 9 students in December, saw 20 wonderful poster design entries which showcased both the modern foreign language and food tech skills learned by the 13 and 14-year-olds.

Led by Lionheart Educational Trust's Modern Foreign Language (MFL) lead, Vicki Loxley, the competition - which extended the curriculum beyond the classroom with the addition of cultural capital - engaged schools across our Leicestershire multi-academy trust.

Using their own time, students were asked to design a poster that showcased a recipe typical in the Hispanic or Francophone worlds, using French or Spanish words alongside engaging pictures and an explanation of why they had chosen the recipe.

Entries were received from across the Trust secondary schools with Director of Curriculum, Alex Petrie, selecting the winners.

Well done to Lottie M at The Cedars Academy in 1st place, Evie K at Sir Jonathan North Girls' College for coming 2nd and Anjalee C at Beauchamp in 3rd place.
